I had a fantastic stay at Coul House in a stunning location. The owners were friendly, knowledgeable, and had a great sense of humor. The staff was welcoming and professional. Our room was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The whole atmosphere of Coul House was warm and inviting, with a roaring fire and friendly dogs. The meals were delicious, and we got a great deal for our mid-week visit. A truly lovely experience that I would highly recommend.
I recommend this hotel.

I stayed at Coul House for a friend's wedding and had a fantastic experience. The hotel gardens and surroundings were beautiful, and the weather was perfect. The food served for the wedding party was superb, with a delicious salmon starter, venison main course, and a fantastic dessert. The breakfast the next morning was one of the best I've ever had in a hotel, with a Gamekeeper's breakfast that had amazing haggis and black pudding. The room we stayed in was spacious, well-presented, and very clean, with a large comfortable bed and a modern bathroom with a walk-in rain shower.
Would highly recommend this hotel.

The rooms need renovated which the owners are aware of and are addressing. Overall though, a superb building and a great stay.

I stayed once before briefly on business, and was so taken with the hotel that I decided to use it again. On this occassion I was able to combine a work commitment with a few days family break. The generous grounds provided many attractions for our 2 year old, including pet ducks, trampoline, climbing frame/swing/slide, not forgetting the 9 hole pitch'n'put! The staff were all very welcoming, and showed incredible patience with their smallest and most outspoken guest.

Very brief overnight stay, in between spells of dreadful weather. Outstandingly attentive staff, excellent food and very comfortable bed. Sorry the stay was so short, but will certainly come again.
Long track to hotel would be difficult in bad winter weather

Good and friendly standard of service from all staff, who regularly take initiative to check that service is good. Hotel took trouble to deliver special requests like European plug adaptor, feather pillows, weighing scales in bedroom. Excellent restaurant.
Minor point: we wanted double room, only twin showed up as available. I phoned hotel 2 days befopre to say we wanted double if one became available. When we checked in we found that message had been registered and they were preparing twin for us. But all got sorted out in time and we got a double. Seems to be a communication gap between nhotel and bookings.com.
